Solicitors' Notepaper Change to Come into Force
29/08/07

Solicitors have just one month left to update their headed notepaper to comply with Rule 7.07 of the solicitors' code of conduct. Under the new conduct rules, the Solicitors' Regulation Authority have jurisdiction over solicitors firms and their conduct rather than the old system of the Law Society regulation.

The change has already taken affect but solicitors were given time to update their headed paper to reflect the new regime. Firms have until 1st October 2007 to re-print their notepaper to say 'Regulatated by the Solicitors' Regulation Authority'. The rule also applies to fax headers and to emails. Failure to comply with the rules will be considered a breach of professional conduct and may result in a censure or fine.
