Welcome to the January Box Legal Newsletter!

January has flown by bringing with it significant updates from the legal world. Over the past few weeks, we've seen the introduction of a new personal injury discount rate, the government's decision to abandon its digital approach to wills, and legal action taken by caravan owners against holiday parks.

This month’s newsletter will cover the latest legal headlines, share an important update on our claims procedure, and provide details of upcoming events the team will attend.

Important Claims Announcement

At Box Legal, we are pleased to confirm that, from 1st February, we will be embracing a fully digital approach to claims made on our policies. From the 1st, all claim forms and supporting documents must be submitted through our online portal, rather than via email.

This change will reduce admin and enable us to keep premiums competitive. It will also speed up the claims process for firms and the insurer. Any claims made via email after this date will be returned to the sender. Just a reminder that, to use the portal you must be registered. If you don’t have a registration then you can easily register for a login here.

If you have any questions or need assistance, please don’t hesitate to contact us.

Box Legal Now Offering ATE Insurance for PCP Claims

Has your client been mis-sold a Personal Contract Purchase (PCP)? Following a landmark Supreme Court ruling, clients may now be able to pursue claims for unfair sales commissions and interest rates on their PCP agreements.

If this applies to you or your clients, get in touch with our team today to find out more about the available ATE insurance options and how we can assist you in making a claim.

Streeting Proposes Changes to Covid Vaccine Compensation Scheme
The Health Secretary is exploring updates to the law surrounding compensation for individuals harmed by Covid vaccines. The current scheme has faced criticism for being inadequate in supporting those who suffer serious harm. Streeting has committed to reviewing options for reform, following a letter to the wife of a man who sustained permanent brain damage after receiving the AstraZeneca jab.

Government to Retain All Original Wills
In a reversal of its earlier plan, the Ministry of Justice has decided to retain all original wills following a public consultation on digital alternatives. The proposal to transition to a digital-only system for storing wills was met with resistance, as many voiced concerns over the reliability of digital records and their cultural significance.

Caravan Mis-Selling: National Legal Action
Over 1,000 caravan owners are preparing to take legal action against holiday parks over alleged mis-selling. Members of the Holiday Park Action Group (HPAG) are seeking compensation for unfair pitch fee hikes and misleading claims about the value of static caravans when purchased.

In her recent blog post, our Marketing Coordinator Abbie Ridgway, explored the latest updates to the personal injury discount rate and how this will impact future claimants. Read it here.

We’re excited to attend several key events in 2025! If you’re planning to be at any of the following conferences, let us know — We’d love to meet you in person!

We would like to thank you again for taking the time to read our monthly newsletter. Make sure that you stay up to date with the latest legal news, by subscribing to receive future editions straight into your inbox. Happy New Year and wishing you all a prosperous and peaceful 2025.

After the Event... We've got you covered,
